Izmir awarded 2022 Europe Prize! Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer’s vision of breaking the city’s shell and opening it to the world was met.
İzmir won a very prestigious international award. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe chose İzmir as ‘the most active city in promoting the European ideal’.
The award, which has been given annually since 1955 to the city for “most actively promoting the European idea”, increases the cities’ international visibility and their communication with other municipalities.

Izmir was selected among five other shortlisted cities: Bamberg and Ingolstadt in Germany, Boleslawiec in Poland, Palanga in Lithuania and Ternopil in Ukraine, a statement from PACE said.
Soyer: ”My beautiful İzmir, this pride is all of us! It was chosen as the city that best represents European values by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and received the ‘Europe Award 2022’. kazansteep. Young people, hope has always existed in these lands, do not lose it. We will grow together.”
